Primary Business Objectives:

The Nursery Manager will work directly with the Perennial Manager, the General Manager, and the Owner to manage all aspects of the nursery and perennials department/areas within the retail store. Work as a key member of larger store management team during off-seasons.    

Primary Duties:

• Work together with Assistant Perennial Manager to oversee daily operations of the nursery and perennial plant departments to manage shared resources and schedules.
\n
• Service as primary backup to Assistant Perennial Manager during off days and other outages
\n
• Manage plant inventory, including assisting with ordering, receiving, and ensuring the plants are healthy and properly cared for.
\n
• Educate and assist customers with plant selection, gardening tips, and advice based on their specific needs.
\n
• Motivate and educate existing and seasonal staff to achieve maximum sales.
\n
• Utilize existing reports and working knowledge to maximize sales volume and effective turnover of existing inventory.
\n
• Ensure all plant displays are visually appealing and organized.
\n
• Monitor plant health, troubleshoot issues (e.g., pests, diseases), and apply necessary treatments or recommend solutions.
\n
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality plants and materials.
\n
• Manage and train a team of nursery staff to provide exceptional service and maintain plant care standards.
\n
• Develop and implement merchandising strategies to maximize plant sales and customer satisfaction.
\n
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and plant performance.
\n
• Stay updated on industry trends, new plant varieties, and sustainable gardening practices.
\n
• Provide support as needed to other departments and managers at all times
\n
• Develop a working knowledge of the business as a whole to assist other departments and individuals and provide ongoing backup to key functions
