Gendelberg Law, PLLC is seeking an experienced, Spanish-speaking Immigration Paralegal to join our team as a part-time independent contractor. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling both affirmative and defensive asylum cases and be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced immigration law practice.

This position will initially require approximately 10 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours and compensation as our needs grow.

\n

\n

We offer a flexible weekday schedule, allowing you to choose your preferred working hours within our regular office hours.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities :

\n

\n

\n
• Prepare and assist with affirmative asylum applications before USCIS and defensive asylum applications before the Immigration Court.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Prepare Form I-589, supporting declarations, affidavits, country conditions evidence, and other supporting documentation.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Assist attorneys with preparing clients and case materials for asylum interviews, Master Calendar Hearings, and Individual Hearings.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Draft and prepare immigration forms, motions, legal correspondence, and other case-related documents under attorney supervision.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Communicate with Spanish-speaking clients to gather information, obtain documentation, and provide case updates.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Organize and maintain case files, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely preparation and submission of filings.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Assist attorneys with other immigration-related matters as needed.
\n

\n

\n

Qualifications :

\n

\n

\n
• Prior experience as an immigration paralegal, with demonstrated experience in both affirmative and defensive asylum cases, is required.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, is required.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Strong knowledge of USCIS and EOIR procedures, immigration forms, and filing requirements.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with attorneys and other team members.
\n

\n

\n

\n
• Experience with Clio or similar legal case management software is preferred.
\n

\n

\n

Compensation and Schedule :

\n

\n

\n
• $35.00 per hour, starting compensation, with potential for future increases
\n
• Approximately 10 hours per week to start.
\n
• Choose your own working hours, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. No weekend work.
\n
• 100% On-Site – Brooklyn, NY -- all work must be performed at our office. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
\n
